Joining a meeting
The first step is always the same: you get a meeting link and click it. That's basically it - but a few details make the experience noticeably smoother.
Audio & webcam setup
If you joined with Microphone, the most important step comes next: your audio settings. Sounds trivial, but it's the difference between a relaxed meeting and 20 minutes of "I can't hear you - can you hear me? - wait, I think my mic is..."
Getting to know the interface
When you're in a meeting for the first time, the BBB interface can feel overwhelming. In reality it's strictly divided into three columns - once you grasp that, you'll find anything in seconds.
Chat, reactions & raise hand
In a meeting with more than three people, you can't get by without silent forms of participation. You can't constantly interrupt - so you need other ways to express yourself. BBB offers three: chat, reactions, and raise hand.
Presentation & whiteboard
In every BBB meeting there's one presenter - the person currently showing slides, controlling the whiteboard, or sharing their screen. By default that's the moderator, but the role can be handed to anyone.
Breakout rooms, polls & recordings
The three features that turn BBB from a pure conferencing tool into a virtual classroom - and at the same time, the most common stumbling blocks for teachers.
